Korben cracks me up! Today he was eating breakfast and there was a fly buzzing around him and kept landing on his head. He kept telling the fly "no" and waving his hands to get it off of him. Every time he saw the fly he would look at it and say "no." It was funny because he was getting so mad at the fly and was waving his hands wildly around to keep the fly off his head. Then he started covering up his food with his hands, I think he was afraid the fly was going to steal his food!

Then Korben was sitting on my lap drinking his milk before his nap and he saw a baby on tv and he said "baby" or rather he said "dayde" which means baby. Then he started pointing at my mom's Barbie dolls and saying "baby" and I said "are you mamma's baby?" He said "no" then I said "oh are you a big boy?" and he shook his head yes. He is funny. Sometimes I really think he understands everything we say to him.

Korben sure keeps us on our toes all the time. Yesterday he pulled down mom's butcher block thing of knives and came running around the corner with scissors that were in there with the knives. Luckily he didn't get hurt at all. My mom was off work and I called for her help to pick them up because Korben kept trying to grab at the knives. So we had to move that. Then we have been having issues with him keeping his jammies on. The other night we tucked him in bed and then went in the other room and we heard him crying. Brent came to check on him and he had his jammies unzipped, his diaper off and was just standing there flashing Brent. Normally he pulls his legs out of his jammies too. So I put away all the jammies that don't have the little flap covering the zipper, he won't be wearing those anymore! I can't put him in 2 piece jammies for the same reason, he takes off the bottoms and then his diaper. That is how the poop incident happened and I am not going through that again!

We had to buy Korben a new pair of shoes. I couldn't find any Stride Rite sandals in his size - well used that is. So we found some used Gap sandals that are completely adjustable, they seem to be working so far. He is now in a 7.5 XW, I do have a size 8 XW Stride Rite sandals and tennis shoes that I bought him because he had always jumped from whole sizes so I skipped over the 7.5 figuring he wouldn't need them and of course I was wrong. There were tons of them on eBay a month ago but I guess since we are heading into Fall the sandals aren't hot sellers anymore. I won't put him in sandals during the winter but we all know how Brent is. He won't even put tennis shoes on Korben even when I tell him to. I may have to hide the sandals once it gets cold or tell him Korben out grew them. :)

Korben is starting to talk more. He can't make a "b" sound at all so if that doesn't improve by the time he is 2 (only 4 more months - can you believe that???? My baby is growing up.) he may have to go to speech therapy. We'll see what the doc. says though. I have been excited because he has actually been saying "mama" lately. He had stopped saying it completely shortly after his 1st birthday and had been calling me "da" or "dada" (he also calls Grandpa and Mickey Mouse "dada") He still doesn't say it alot but I am happy that he is making another sound besides "d" which is what he says most of the time.

List of words Korben says now - so I can keep track for his next doctor's appointment, she always asks how many words are in his vocabulary.

  1. thank you

  2. hair

  3. eye

  4. nose

  5. teeth

  6. ear

  7. no

  8. door

  9. dog

  10. clock

  11. baby

  12. car

  13. hi

  14. bye

  15. sock (he did say 'shoe' but he hasn't said that in so long I am not counting it)

Hmmm that is all I can think of right now. If you know of any that he says and I forgot to list them let me know. At 18 months he was supposed to have between 15-20 words (besides dada and mama) in his vocabulary.

I just set up Korben's appointment to have a flu shot. Brent and I will be getting ours at his work this year. They give them out free to employees and spouses, which is awesome! I have to have one every year because of my diabetes and if you are around children under the age of 5 regularly you are supposed to get one. Brent refused to get one last year because he didn't want to pay the $30 for it and he wasn't an actually employee yet he couldn't get one for free. I told him last night he has no excuses this year, he is getting one. Esp. since he kept getting sick last winter. He hardly ever gets sick but living here we are around more people. My parents get sick alot and we are always around my nephews and niece and they get sick alot being in school.

Well that is about all that has been going on here. I haven't really taken any new pics lately. The only ones I have are of Korben sleeping with his new little Thomas the Train pillow that Grandma & Grandpa S. bought him. He loves it and sleeps on it all the time now. I am behind on putting up videos on YouTube, I will try to get them up this coming weekend.

Today is Kaylan's birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY KB!) so we are going to celebrate his birthday at Hey Day and at Andy Alligator. They are right next to each other so we are going to eat and play mini golf at Hey Day then walk over to Andy Alligator where he wants to ride the go carts and hit some balls at the batting cages - which I really want to do too, I haven't played baseball in probably like 20 years (geeeeesh that makes me feel REALLY old!) so I am not sure if I can even still hit a ball. I don't know yet if I want to try to make a fool of myself yet or not! Anyway if I remember to bring the camera I should have some new pics.

09/17/08

I really don't know where the time goes. It has already been 6 days since I last posted on here but it felt like yesterday.

Korb & I have been staying busy helping my mom run errands. She is getting ready to remodel her bathrooms so we have been shopping for that and for the Blazers Booster Club stuff. My mom is on the board of directors on the Booster Club and she is in charge of buying the stuff that they sell at the booth during the games.

Korb has been on and off with his naps, although today he got in his crib only played with his pillows and blankets for about 10 mins and pass out.

This past Saturday we went to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. I have been wanting to go there for a long time and until Oct. they have the Roman Art visiting from the Louvre. So Brent wanted to see that. I meant to bring my camera but I forgot it again. I told Brent one of these days we need to buy me a smaller digital camera to keep in the diaper bag. I love my camera but it doesn't fit well in the bag and I am constantly forgetting it.

Last night we went to the State Fair. Korben loved it! He loved all the people and all the lights. Of course he loved the giant clock tower they had there too and kept saying "clock." We stayed with my parents, Kaylan, Ryan, and Zylee for a bit but they were planning on riding lots of rides and staying for awhile. Brent and I just wanted to eat and hang out for a bit and then get Korben home and to bed somewhat close to bedtime. My mom gave me some ride coupons to take Korben on the merry go round and he loved it. He started laughing when it first started going up and down. That is the only ride he went on but the highlight of his evening was when we gave him some cotton candy. We very rarely give him sugar so this was a treat for him. At first I was just trying to stick it in his mouth so he wouldn't get sticky but he wouldn't open his mouth. Brent had told him "no hands" so we had to pry his mouth open to stick some cotton candy in there. After he had that first bite he wanted more but since Brent told him "no hands" he was opening his mouth and trying to get more with his mouth. I was trying to just hand it to him but he wouldn't take it because daddy had said no. Finally I put it in his hands and he started shoving the whole thing in his mouth. The three of us shared the whole bag. Before Korb ate that he was laying down in his stroller just enjoying looking around (this was right before we were about to leave so it was close to bedtime) and after he ate that he was sitting up and pointing to everything and turning his had back and forth real fast to see everything. It was pretty funny. By the time we got home his sugar rush was gone and he was ready for bath and bed. He had a great time and I am glad we went - Brent didn't want to go, he doesn't like the fair that much but I always like to go. The last time we went to the fair it was the Dallas fair which is terribly crowded - we waited 2 hrs in a traffic jam just to park and we were tired and cranky by the time we got in there so we just ate and left. Brent seemed to enjoy it here much better, I think he had forgotten that our fair is not like the Dallas fair.

One day last week I got 2 giant packages in the mail from my friend Dan (the one whose mother just passed away) and I was very surprised. They were filled with toys for Korben. Apparently somebody he knows works for Fisher Price / Mattel and they were all kinds of free toys that she got. We have only opened a few of them so far and he has been having a good time with them. Lots and lots of cars! Thank you Dan for those!!!

That is all that has been going on here. Pics are of Korben wearing one of his new pairs of jammies from Grandma & Grandpa S., lining up some of his cars, at the fair on the merry go round & eating cotton candy and a special picture we took for Grandpa S. at the fair. :)

09/11/08

Ok so I am behind on posting on here. Last week I was exhausted from our trip and was still trying to adjust back to the time change, so I took a nap every time Korben did. This week Korben has decided to give up naps. It is making me nuts, it is my only quiet time of the day. He does stay in his crib during that time but he is in there "talking" and playing loudly or he is crying for me to get him out so it is not exactly quiet time for me. I really hope he is not one of those kids who stops taking naps before age 3.

Lets see here, a few days after we got back from Seattle Korben learned how to open the fridge. Good thing I could hear when he opened it. Only one time did he grab something out of it and of course it was a glass bottle of soy sauce so I was chasing him around trying to get that away from him. Luckily we still had some drawer straps left over from childproofing and on the package they said they could be used for refrigerators too, I put them on there and they work great. They work so good that it now takes us adults both hands to open the fridge! Kinda a pain but better than Korben getting into trouble in there.

Every since we got back from Seattle Korb has been trying to open all the doors in the house. Grandma & Grandpa S. had those door knobs that you just push down so Korb was able to open all their doors. So once we got home he kept testing and testing all the doors up and down the hallway and he did manage to get the coat closet opened. I told him no and he seemed content with the fact that he opened it and has not tried to open doors since except for the front door which he always tries because he wants to play outside all day everyday. He knows I lock the top lock on that one so he doesn't even try to use the door knob, instead he tries to unlock the door and he almost has it too. When he grows another inch he will be able to get out of the front door as my mom's bottom lock is one that when it is locked can still be opened from the inside. So I am going to have to go and buy some doorknob covers pretty soon for that.

Korben got a new tooth since we have been home so that makes tooth # 13. I think another will pop up this week since he has been chewing on his fingers like crazy. I just looked up how many baby teeth need to come through and it is 20 - only 7 more to go!!!!! I hope they keep coming quick so we can get this over with!

This past Saturday we went to Septemberfest at the Governor's mansion and the Oklahoma History Center. They offer free admission to both plus have all kinds of free things to do. Most of it is for older kids but me and Korben got to pet a skunk and Korben went on his first horse ride. Video of that will be up on YouTube in the next few days.

We also found out for sure that we will be going to Disney World in December!!!!!! YAY!!! A big giant thank you to Grandma & Grandpa S. for all that! We will be going from Dec. 14 - 20th. I think Korben is really going to have fun this time, although he had fun last time this year will be different. I am already excited about next year too, we are going in October with my family and Halloween is my favorite time of year and so I liked going to Disney World better in Oct. than in Dec. and with Korben it is going to be super fun. I am going to have all three of us dress up in costumes for the Halloween party. This year I am going to take Korben to have his first hair cut in the Magic Kingdom, even though I really don't want to cut it. I don't know why I don't want to have it cut, it is getting shaggy on the sides but it makes me sad for some reason.

Sunday we spent the day painting my mom's ceilings, well mom and I spent the day doing it and Brent painted for a couple hours during Korben's nap and then took care of him. Brent took him on a walk around the block and walked him to the park across the street to keep him out of our way. Mom paid us to paint for her so we will be putting that money away for the 2 and half days of vacation time Brent lacks for the Disney trip.

Monday was mine & Brent's 7th wedding anniversary. It is hard to believe that we have been married that long. Korben and I went running errands with my mom all day long, we got home around 3 and I put Korben right down for a nap. He was so tired in Wal-Mart (our last stop) he kept laying his head on me or mom, poor tired boy. He did take a nap that day but he didn't fall asleep until around 4:15. He was sleeping when Brent and I left to go out to dinner for our anniversary. We got home about 8:00 and my mom was putting him into the bath, she said he slept until 7:30! Mom bathed him and when he got out he was so excited to see Daddy as he hadn't seen him all day long. Korben ended up staying up until 10 pm that night.

Tues. and Wed. no naps for Korb. Last night he did fall asleep on Brent while drinking his before bedtime milk but slept for less than 15 mins and then he stayed up until 12:30 AM!! He was so funny too because I was sitting in bed watching a show and Brent was on the computer so Korben could see me but not Brent. He kept giving me his little pouty face because he knows I feel sorry for him and will eventually get him out and it worked....again. So I let him down and let him go run out to say goodnight (again) to Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle TJ, and Zylee so he said goodnight and Brent and I tucked him back in. Well then I saw Korben unzipping his pj's so I told him not to do that and to put his jammies back on. He zipped them back up and then he closed his eyes - he does this little squinty eye close and he thinks you can't see him when he does that - and then started to unzip his pj's again. He looked so funny in his tented crib with his squinty eyes trying to take off his pj's that I just started laughing. Daddy went and fixed his jammies where he couldn't get the zipper down. He was wearing one of his new pair that Grandma & Grandpa S. got him.

Which reminds me I got another new diaper bag! Grandma & Grandpa S. got it for us along with all kinds of other stuff for Korb and shirts and nightshirts for Brent & I. We thank you so much!!! This diaper bag is really cool though because it has Mickey Mouse and our last name embroidered on it!!!!! Not only that but it is the exact brand of diaper bag that I just bought only it is longer and shorter - like my old one was - so I actually like it better than the one I bought and it hooks on to the stroller too! I haven't switched all my stuff over to it yet but I plan on doing that this evening. I will have to take a picture of it because it is really cool.

Korben did end up falling asleep while I was typing this! Yay! However he didn't fall asleep until 4:20 right before I was going to take him out of his bed. So now it is a little after 5 and he is passed out. I think I might wake him up soon to try to get him back on track with his bed and nap times. I don't know how they got so out of whack as he did great our first week back from Seattle.

Pictures are of Korben with my sunglasses, after the bath and at Septemberfest.

09/02/08

Well we are back from Seattle, we had a wonderful trip. We are so thankful to Brent's parents for all they do for us and for showing us a good time in Seattle. The time difference really threw me off but Korben seemed to keep his regular OK time schedule, except he was going to bed later and he had very short naps, if any at all.

I am so glad Brent was off the two days after we got back so Korben had some time to adjust to being home. Sunday Korben didn't nap at all even though we put him down at 1 and kept him in there until 4:30 like he does everyday. Monday he did end up taking a nap but it was later and he didn't end up waking up until after 5. Right now it is 3:15 and I still here him talking to his animals in his bed, although I did just peek at him and he is laying down.

Korben hasn't been sleeping well at night since we've been home. He has been waking up a couple of times each night in pain. Those teeth are getting bigger and bigger everyday, they are almost all the way through. He has 4 that are pushing through at the same time. I was worried while we were in Seattle that he had an ear infection because he kept pulling on his ear but he hasn't done that since we've been home and his bottom molars look like they are almost all the way through so I guess it was just that.

Last night he wanted some milk at midnight when he woke up. I was in bed so Brent handed Korb to me and went to get him some milk. Korben is such a Daddy's boy! Korben started screaming when Brent left the room and didn't breath for almost the entire time because he was crying / screaming so hard. It scared me to death, his lips and around his lips were turning blue. I laid him on the bed since he made himself stiff like he does when he is mad and I rubbed his tummy and just kept saying BREATH! Right as he took his breath Brent walked in the room, thank goodness! Korben stopped crying as soon as he got in Daddy's arms.

When we were in Seattle the zipper on my diaper bag broke so I needed a new one. We checked a few places while we were there without any luck. I thought I would just run down to Wal-Mart when we got home and get one there but they didn't have any I was crazy about. I am on my 5th diaper bag already (although one of them I still use but only for travel) so I know exactly what I need and want out of a diaper bag. We then checked at Target and I did find one there but it was $40 & that is just silly for a diaper bag. So we headed to Babies R Us yesterday and I found two that I couldn't decide between. I think I spent 30 mins just looking at those two bags trying to decide which had better features. In the end it boiled down to the way each one felt on my arm. So I ended up liking the cheaper one of the two (only $25) and while we were gone to Seattle I had gotten some coupons for Babies R Us in the mail and it had a 15% off any diaper bag coupon in there so that was nice! I couldn't believe I couldn't find one at Wal-Mart though, I thought I could even just rebuy the one that broke because my mom had gotten it for me from there & I loved that bag but they don't have it anymore. I do think I like my new bag more though, it is black and not as long but it is taller and has more room for sippy cups on the outside and it has extra straps to hook the bag onto the stroller which is pretty cool.
The really exciting thing is while we were at Babies R Us we found some different kitchen drawer locks and Brent put them on already and they work!!!! YAY!!!!!! Now I won't have to worry about Korben getting into all those drawers all the time.
When we were in Seattle Korben was able to open Grandma & Grandpa S.'s doors and he has gone around to all the doors in our house trying to open them all. He keeps testing them all but can't open them yet, thank goodness!

I am babysitting my nephews and niece this week and Korben has been loving today. When I got up this morning to get Korben his milk Zylee was up. So she came and laid down with me & Korben while Korb drank his milk. When everybody woke up Korben was chasing Ryan & Zylee around the house. He often goes the opposite way around the kitchen so he catches them which is funny because it scares them. I guess they don't think Korb is smart enough to go the other way and it catches them by surprise every time.
Well I guess that is all for today. Pictures are from our trip to Seattle, I only took 517 photos there. :)
